I am speaking from experience. Download the forms needed for filing 485, EAD and AP. Then when your attorney send you his/her set ( normally they do this in 2 stages - one they will send you a draft copy to verify and correct all info - some have online questionnaire; stage two - they send the final forms for you to verify and sign again - this they may do paper copy or online PDF - that cannot be edited - not fill able forms).
So, here I am providing links to all forms that I know are needed. These from uscis.gov site are fill able. Weekend is coming. Fill them, and print and keep them.

Called the DOS. Told them I need to travel to my home country and asked them if they can verify if my information is in PIMS. She asked if the H1-B is an extension case which it is. She said the extension cases are taking a bit longer than the new ones. That is quite surprising. Finally she looked in the database or whatever and said they do not have my extension information yet. All they have is the information from the expired petition. No timelines just asked me to call back in a week.:rolleyes:

Could it be that the AILA is talking about the 4th category and AILF's Legal Action Center is seeking plaintiffs - mainly 4th category that got their applications rejected?
I'm not getting this. If DOS/USCIS wants to retrogress the current dates then why they will wait for july2nd or 3rd. As they know people will file their applications by 29th june or they will try to deliver their applications by 2nd of july. So,if this rumour is really true then they would have posted revised bulletin in this week only , latest by today only, so that people will stop filling applications. So guys relax and keep doing whatever you were doing and file your applications by 2nd july.

My husband is a physical therapist and he received the RFE for I-485
to submit the visa screenning certificate and NPTE exam results by June 13th. He will be able to submit
the visa screenning certificate only by july 2nd week.Can you please tell me is there any way he can get

Currently he is in L2 visa and the L2 visa is getting expired on June 20th, we applied for I94 extention.
I am in L1 visa and my company is asking me to goto India. So my husband can't stay in US in L2 status (after I leave).
He has to stay in US depends on the I-485 processing.

I agree calabor well said ;), but realy its frustrating when you have a family to look after and a house. The worst thing is no one is accountable for this mess. Specialy when you have been in US for such a long time.
Veeru123, so in your case did you call DOS and then things worked out or consulate themselves send you the email/passport on 25th. Let me also know is it an automated response system at DOS or we have to speak to someone and give our EAC# as case reference. Your advice would be of great help.

I have send emails to my credit card company and the people who processed the payment and none of them have been able to help me.
You should just fill a dispute form and send it to your credit card issuer. It's probably not too late. The bank can and should refund you the overpay.

We should support, as it puts end to consulting companies abuse.
I dont beleive this people are supporting this idea. This will put an end to H1B hiring by small tech startups.
There are better ways to avoid fraud, eg. by depending on paystubs etc...

In effort to make legislators and people aware of legal immigration issues, we should take help of media.This would be most effective.
Hiring a lobbying firm to pursue our issues with legislators is a good idea but it should be accompanied with media awareness as well.This is money intensive project and it will take time to reach its target of 100k.We need some other channel of awareness open as well and we need to do that soon so that it has some effect on Feb bills.
People are not aware that we are going thru such long waits to get immigrate legally.This issue needs to be highlighted.
Lawmakers would listen to legal immigration issues if they read in leading newspapers NYT and Washington Post. These newspapers are very influential.

Forget about it impacting desi companies, do you know how many companies will be impacted if the "no contracting" clause is retained in the H1B/L1 bill. It essentially means that no company can "purchase" the services of another company and use a H1B worker to work on the project at it's site. We are talking about biggies like IBM Consulting (where about 10% of it's workforce is on H1B) , Oracle consulting etc. who's clients depend on the expertise of the techies to help their teams by working with them onsite.
Oracle and IBM are rich by software support and consulting services, not just by their product lines.
Do business working on non-govt or non-defense apps care whether their contractor is on H1B or not? No they care about 2 things 1. Price 2. Can the contractor help get their system working?
It's pretty obvious that neither of these senators have any business experience.

I don't think it will do much good sueing uscis on this issue. The point is, they have the legal authority to be the one interporating the law. So, if there is "gray area" in the law, the law says it is their understanding that matters, not ours or any one else's. So, unless the law very specifically says it must be done in another way, you can not argue uscis did the wrong thing.
Now that we see the immigration law does not very specifically regulate how the flow should be like, so uscis have the authority to "understand the intention of the law" and act accordingly. You can't say you think the law means otherwise and thus sue uscis, because that argument makes no sense to the court. The court will only accept the argument when the government is apparently acting against the law.
We can definitely question them on how their understanding changed on visa spill over distribution.

I had bought a house 2 years back thinking that i will sell it after couple of years and make money. I know many people might have done that. I didnt knwo that having a house will become a burden for me wrt moving to a different place in search of a job. I do see jobs in cities outside my state and was thinking of applying for those jobs. My problem is that if i sell my house, i will have to pay from my own pocket.
Having a house in this market has become a pain as it has made me immobile with respect to good job offers.

Will this affect my GC process. I have no plans of buying a house in coming years.

Rent your house using Property management compnay. Why? While you are away from the state your house is, property mgmt. company will take care of renting your house as well as maintain everything, you will get less money and might have to shell out some money out of your pocket to pay mortgage.
In above case,
1. talk with your mortgage lender, see if they are willing to lower your monthly mortgage (e.g. by spreading it for 40 years instead of traditional 30 yr. loan)
2. Search for reputed Pro. mgmt. comp in your area, talk with them and see what are your chances of ending up a tenant.
3. I would suggest you to think twice before going for foreclosure as previous poster suggested.
4. If you decide to go for foreclosure, make sure you landup in a job before you go for the proceedings.
5. There are different types of foreclosures, research on which one will be less impact to you.
