My case was filed on JUly 2nd, I-140 approved at TSC, No RN, No CC, nothing.. frustrating.. everybody else in the world is getting the receipt notice and FP..

Now USCIS is on top of July 2nd and 3rd filers, especially for the applications that were transfered from NSC to TSC. You will certainly get your receipt notices with in a week.:)

Friends even I believe that looks like we will hit the Jul - Aug 2007 mark this year for EB2 things seem to be adding up well.
If we got 12K from EB1 and EB5 for the first 6 months then we should expect another 12K and even EB2 ROW usage is significantly down.

It will not help. Your aliases will be checked too. If you look at the names of 3000 or people stuck in name check, it is mostly Indians, Chinese, Russsians and a smattering of some Arab names from all over the world including middle east and Africa. Most are men. Evidently, this is racial and religious profiling based on "classified criterion". It will be interesting if AILA files a class action suit against FBI/USCIS by a whole class of people targetted, who in most cases have nothing to do with any crime.

Initially I ignored this thread as some advertisement. Then I noticed that this thread was staying visible for several days. I got curious and started reading it and following the posts - Got convinced - Purchased the plan 2 days ago and I got my Vonage adapter today. BILL TUCKER, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): All H1-B visa workers do not look like this. Some even look like this. Most do work at technology companies, based on the latest data available from the government, data which is incomplete but revealing, nonetheless.
Five of the top six employers of H1-B visa workers in 2006 were Indian companies. They were issued 18,453 visas. In total, almost 20,000 visas issued in 2006 went to Indian outsourcing companies, and the data shows it was not American workers who benefited but foreign workers.
JOHN MIANO, ATTORNEY: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, between 2000 and 2005, the United States' employment for computer workers grew by about 332,000.
During the same time period, the United States imported about 330,000 H1-B workers for computer occupations.
TUCKER: The situation for engineers was even worse, with 95,000 H1-B visas issued in the same period for engineering, yet according to the Department of Labor, engineering jobs shrank by almost 124,000 jobs.
The visa is often referred to as being for the brightest and the best. But, the visa is broken up into four levels of classifications, with levels 1 and 2 being the lowest-skilled positions, and 87 percent of the visas went to those categories. WTF is he talking about 1 and 2? how can bachelors required masters required be lowest skilled positions?
RON HIRA, ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY: We really don't know whether those workers are working at level one. We know that they're being paid level one wages.

My new theory is the DOS was influenced by politicians who are attorneys (I beleive that there 50% of lawmakers) and it released a huge Visa Numbers. The politicians have strong connections to law firms. The USCIS doesn't want to do it, because it doesn't have 'resources', 'money', 'manpower. So, they are on a near strike mode, not attending routine works like sending receipts., etc in a timely fashion.

Many issues are being swept under the carpet. I had written a few times earlier. The backlog and GC issues are not truly a numbers game. It is the neo-con regime and the republican culture that had engulfed Washington, its consequences, that had made things miserable for us; we, the legal immigrants.
4/5ths of the illegal immigrants have been here by the time of Clinton's second term. It was a non-issue then. You should understand why is it an issue now? Why can't it the legal and illegal immigration be addressed and solved. In a democracy, things like this can be solved administratively, legislatively and judicially. Adminstratively, we we hit below the belt, in backlogs, in delays, in sudden rule changes (no concurrent filings of PD is not current). Legislatively, they are stalling and falling apart. What is left for the immigrants?

Why should you know? Why should you understand? It is in your own interests that you understand things wisely. Failure to know what is happening on the ground, what is happening around us is a sure shot for personal failure.

DOS and USCIS played a tactical move by making all the visa numbers current in anticipation of the CIR bill so that the legals wont complain to the senators about retrogression.
Once the CIR went down the drain, they are panicking about the outcome of their tactical error and trying to undo that move.
Again, just my theory...:confused:

If it is not mistake you are thinking as Conspiracy. What is the motive of conspiracy? What I am telling is making all PD current was mistake as everyone will expect atleast 300k I485 applications and that many Visa was not available. They made another mistake to correct previous mistake. There is no pro or anti immigrant stand is needed to evaluate this. I do not believe conspiracy theories. Even 9/11 attack also so many conspiracy thories are there. Unless we get some evidence everything is speculative only

wow...u guys have made my decision easier...better to go via ny directly to mumbai
I have flown on Continental from Newark to Mumbai non-stop. The best international flight experience so far! I bought the ticket online at their website. Guess what! It was almost 60% the price of lowest price travel agents were quoting on other airlines!
The flight is a bit long lasting just under 15 hours. But, it leaves at around 8 PM. After an in-flight dinner, it is bedtime. People who have taken overnight bus journeys in India, this is not much different. If you can manage to sleep in that half sitting position (I cannot!) then it is that much better. You wake up, eat breakfast, spend 3-4 hours enjoying their inflight individual entertaintment unit, and soon it is time to land in Mumbai.
There is no hassle with food either. Indian veg is part of their standard offering. So, no hassle of ordering AVML and hoping that they will remember to serve it to you.
The down side:
1) The length - at 15 hours (16.5 hours during return), it can get too much.
2) The service is as bad as any US domestic flight.
3) If you do not live in Mumbai or Delhi, your journey would not end with this flight.
I see that more airlines are moving towards this long haul model with flights lasting over 12 hours. I think it is great, because we avoid all transit hassles, such as security, transit visa, etc., etc.
Soon, AI, Jet and Kingfisher are going to enter into this market. Hopefully more cities in India will connected to more cities in US this way.

All these statistics are based on wage rate specified on LCA. But in many cases LCA wage is treated as a minimum wage by companies. I don't think many companies get a new LCA when the salary rises, I don't think they are supposed to. It also does not include bonuses as companies often don't know what the bonus is going to be when they apply for an LCA.
Even based on the LCA salaries 10% H1Bs in 2006 were for 100K or more. (Unlike what the programmer's guild wrongly says (1%) )

Does anyone know if vonage can be used as a phone card. Say if you want to make an international call from your cellphone using vonage account.
I dont think they have the calling facility with the reference to vonage account.....I have chatted with customer rep and he confirms me the same....this was few days back...not sure now...if any body has new info, update here.......

For eg. if you have FirstName MiddleName LastName .
The search should be ( put within quotes )
"FirstName MiddleName"

and all the reverse combinations.
If you get hits in 100s or 1000s , yeah you can wait 2 -3 years.

I agree with both of your points: a solid action plan from IV core team would go a long ways to inspire and motivate others and that we should continue spreading the word (by writing to change.gov, news organizations, law makers etc.). Comments from IV core team are welcome.
