It needed 60 votes to pass I think and not a simple majority. In any event, i am not sure if it would have thru since it is an amendment and the main defence bill failed.
But this is a huge eye opener, to see who-is-who of democrats voting against this.
On second thoughts, may be it is expected becuase they are about illegal immigrants and republicans are about big business atleast according to popular perception.

With me having a pd even prior to of Mar 2002-EB3I, I thought I will join hands with IV to make something happen. To the extent I went and joined the IV chapter too.
Unfortunately, starting with the forum to most of the news that is being discussed seems to be not related to immigration at all. Example, accidents, investments, real estate. I feel the admin should be able to control and strictly adhere to what ImmigrationVoice stands for and delete any other unrelated threads.
Anyway, long story short, I feel IV has lost its focus and feels like for people who are looking at a proper approach to resolving problems, the web site does not give any reason or confidence, to follow or join hands for IV activities.
Just my opinion. Feel free to agree to disagree whoever would like to.
Not trying to blame anybody here, but sharing a viewpoint. In my opinion IV was great sometime back, but feel now there is a lack of direction.

However we have felt that it has not been enough to bring the relief we need. For that we need more active members and more resources. I disagree that IV has lost focus. Infact through new features and upgrade of the site we are trying to provide what our members need on this site so that there is more participation on the effort when it is time. Our past experiences have told us that we need more numbers when it comes to letter writing, calling or rally. This is the reason we are trying to add new features on the site and look into the needs of the community. This is going to be our strategy this year and we seek member's help to get everyone outside of IV on IV platform. If someone wants to seek answers on immigration questions, they can join IV forums, if someone wants to track they can use IV tracker, If someone wants to blog, we have blogs etc etc

What do you mean "heart, mind, soul, ethics were sold"? How do you know that? Just because someone called the U.S president "his president" does not mean he/she sold anything, let alone someone's soul and ethics. That is their right to call the U.S president his or hers.

If one becomes a permanent resident of USA then also USA still only expects that person abide by the law of the land and do not involve in "anti USA" activity. It still does not expect "fidelity" towards USA in legal sense.There is no legal or social or political or any kind of pressure from USA or any governmental or non governmental institutes within USA on any particular person coming from other country to become its citizen. One can stay on permanent residency forever till death(At least based on current prevalent law) and legally work and s/he does not have to become a citizen for working legally. Like RAgz4u said, with a tight rope walk, it will be extremely difficult to get our amendments to pass.
Without that, even if the bill pasess and lets 12 million undocumented
folks get in the line, it is drastically going to clog USCIS which
may screw us up badly.

Ask them to get an International ATM card with Citibank or ICICI and just withdraw the money here in dollars after they send it to you. It might be around 3% to 5% for transaction charges. I got a FP notice for next month. It is certainly not related to AP or EAD renewal, since I don't have any pending AP or EAD renewal. I got my EAD renewed last March and AP in May. So hoping that I got the FP notice since they started looking at my 485 application and something positive will be end result.

That simply cannot happen because then IV as a whole would be acting like a headless chicken. Everyone now a days seems to be starting a drive, throwing tantrums at fellow IVians etc. This has to stop as per most of passive members, it means directionlessness.
I've a suggestion. Let's ask our members, those who want to be the core. Let's restrict the core group membership to 20-25. If we get more responses, we can poll for the most favorite candidates on the forum. Similarly we can ask all of our members for the drives they want to support and poll for the drives. The most favorite five drives then become IV's drives. Most people will not work unless they are given clear instructions. The reason FOIA drive became successful was because it was coordinated well, gave a clear direction to the members and had a clear goal. That is why we raised more money than required for that drive. We need similar type of purposeful drives which will keep all of us motivated. The forum members may vote out a core team member, if they are dissatisfied, I mean we can employ all types of checks and balances for an efficient core team and an efficient drive system.
A ship can have thousands of oarsmen but it needs an able captain to take it to the shore. If you ask me, I'll vote for you as the captain. :)

Some unused EB #s were recaptured for families in following year. For example, in 1994 there were 29,430 (column 2) unused EB #s. However, 27,721 (= 253,721 (column 3) - 226,000 (family quota)) of these #s were recaptured for families. Thus, only 29,430 - 27,721 = 1,709 (column 4) were un-recaptured.
Also, 50,000 unused EB #s from 01-04 were recaptured for Schedule A.
Finally, unused EB #s in 99 and 00 were recaptured, hopefully for EB.
Thus, unused EB #s are more important then un-recaptured EB #s (mentioned above) since some of them have not been recaptured for EB.

Some unused EB #s were recaptured for families in following year. For example, in 1994 there were 29,430 (column 2) unused EB #s. However, 27,721 (= 253,721 (column 3) - 226,000 (family quota)) of these #s were recaptured for families. Thus, only 29,430 - 27,721 = 1,709 (column 4) were un-recaptured.
Also, 50,000 unused EB #s from 01-04 were recaptured for Schedule A.
Finally, unused EB #s in 99 and 00 were recaptured, hopefully for EB.
Thus, unused EB #s are more important then un-recaptured EB #s (mentioned above) since some of them have not been recaptured for EB.

Thanks Belmont for support, as explained in other thread for some guy who is beating me or people like us, it's a mistake/accident. It can happen with ones mistake or without mistake (Car accident).. Some one get caught and some one don't... as example I knew many people who steal/use office supplies in the company they work...

WSJ could find 1 article in 1+ year but have 4+ articles on undocumented workers per week, with a CIR dead for ever. I tried to post this but they closed the blog.
Only a forever ignorant can continue to post that media (and everyone else) is ignorant about the distinction between legal and illegal. They closed this blog because the blog was getting filled with EB GC issues which are not of interest. Here is a 4+ day open WSJ blog (http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2007/10/01/that-was-fast/) on H2B.
BTW, blog post has more effect then email because others can read a post and hence puts more pressure.
