It's just a dinner price! If you ever go out on a good dinner with a family, it usually costs about $50. I am barely meeting my daily bills as of now, but I don't hesitate donating in the amount of $100 and I have done it 4 times so far in the recent past.
It still holds: "You get more than what you give to others for the good cause."

I have been wanting to make an IV contribution for a long time and here is my problem..I probably can be labeled a miseror a magpie! ..Whenever I go to the IV link to contribute and see the $50 or $100 option I panic and get out..yes I do!
I have some desi colleagues and was discussing this issue with them at work..and they had the exact same experience..wow..I am not the only magpie..
But hey is'nt IV the one which is at the receiving end not getting our contributions..
I speak from my own experience and call me a mapie or a miser..or whatever..I cant make myself make a $50 or more contribution .. thats the way I am..But I can sure make a smaller contribution (like a monthly recurring $10 contribution which really is easier to make) and I am quite sure IV will benefit from my small contributions as well as i think a lot more people will not hesitate making contributions in smaller denominations than a whopper $50+
And really this is not related to IV effort but more to do with my own way of thinking about parting with my money..I love my money..:)...
My history - Made $0 contributions so far..and have been wanting to contribute for a long time now..but keep backing away..

although this doesn't fit 100% to your case. You may want to look at the attached administrative appeals office decision.
Essentially, a person was denied in eb2 because they had a 3 yr bsc and 2 year masters. they had education evaluationstating that masters indian degree was equal to us masters degree.
nebraska service center stated that 3+2 is not equal to masters degree. Admininstrative appeals office decision approved it saying that it didn't matter how long the combined study was. As long as foreign masters equals us masters then that is all which needs to be proven.
My experience has been that texas service center sends an rfe for this 3+2 education. I know of 8 cases where thie decision was shown in the rfe and they all 8 got approved. I know of one case in nebraska where this case was shown and they still denied it stating that it wasn't a precedent decision (person already had another 140 denied and there was some history in his case which i believe caused nebraska to deny it). this is my 10th year in the US & never had a single incident along the racial lines.. probably I lucked out.. However, I don't subscribe to this opinion of removing moustache..... I am proud of my bushy moustache & have had women admire that at/outside work.. But I do agree 100% on all the other points you raised..

Hi Guys,
I think while choosing a candidate for representing before Congress, we need to also ensure that the person is articulate, eloquent and able to put our point effectively across to the other side.
Being from the tech field myself, I encounter a lot of highly intelligent people who do not seem to have adequate communication skills which is a huge drawback.
So, just a note to the moderators, when we do select a candidate, please ensure that either they are given adequate training in public speaking (for example ) or they are paired with a person armed with those skills. Not all of us posess the finesse and suave necessary to impress such an audience and it is imperative that we acknowledge the fact that the person we choose purely on merit might need some assistance while conveying his/her points across.

Thanks ilikekilo for the information. My husband medical coverage will start on the same day of his joining date. There is no waiting period. We need to find out what kind of healthcare plan they are providing and check whether my hospital and OB is under there network.

As somebody said above, if we r getting married after Aug 17, and if we decide not to file my 485 now. My PD is May 2007 and my 140 would be approved before my H1B is expired for the second term, and if I didn't file my 485 by then, what kind of H1B extensions would I get ?? 1 year or 3 years.

IV community, do you think there is anything we can learn from the Wisconsin gatherings??????????? They are able to mobilize 50,000 people or more in a matter of hours and days. IV campaign for 200 people is running for over a month! And as per the core team, we are yet to reach that number...............
BTW, before anyone takes up arguments over WI issues, you are focusing on the wrong issue. I am only interested in the number of people that are mobilized, and why is it that we cannot do the same.
Why is it a letter/FB/twitter can generate thousands of people to come out and protest, while the same newsletter/FB/twitter has had such a poor response for us. Are we not motivated enough? Or do we not actually care for the GC? Or do we get pleasure in just complaining? :confused: :mad:

So for a position classifed as a jobzone 4 and an svp between 7 <8, which of the following job requirements would be a better option for EB-2 filing:
- MS+0 / No BS requirement
- MS+0 / BS+5
And by better I mean less chance of an audit or proof of business necessity requirements.
I am afraid I am missing something. According to the worst case interpretation you can't require more than 2 years even for BS for zone IV.
Can somebody remind me how BSs can still qualify for EB2? I heard this BS+5, but don't see how it can fit into zone IV and qualify for EB2

I am glad that some EB2 guys can empathise with us....EB3(I) is completely hopeless....but I doubt if IV will take this up...even a small admin fix like applying the spillover to EB3 this year...that will take away some stress on the EB3(I) pipeline....
No matter whether you are in EB2 or EB3, if you lose job then you are going back to stone age. So we are all in the same boat. The only hope is to fix the leak.

I have a feeling that they will HAVE To process EAD's in 90 days( that's what the current rule says ) or reinstate the Interim EAD's - terminating Interim EAD seems like the dumbest move they ever made. If either of these doesn't happen, lawsuits are sure to follow. So, don't worry too much about it my friend.

Civil infractions are leinennt, but you are now all set for rest of your life to be in public records. Future employers and creditors would see that too when they do background checks. Other than that you got nothing to worry about. Go ahead and continue to plan for your India visit. But may I advise not to indulge into that habit of shoplifting? ... uhmm I know gifts can be very expensive.:cool:

While some members might have jumped too hard on the whole thing, Some stuff goes unanswered.
1) Why has not USINPAC endorsed IV all this while on their website? Does not USINPAC know any thing about IV?
2) While I understand the importance of fund raisers for politicians, why USINPAC has not involved US citizens of American origin to contribute to the cause? What about grass roots efforts?
3) I dont have the exact statistics, but I am positive that every one out of 2/3 Indians living in the US is plagued by this problem of GC. How come Orgs like USINPAC are not pushing this by all means?
Forget the media mishap and the outrage of some members, if USINPAC really considers Immigration of Highly skilled Indians, they should be doing some thing. I personally am neither defending the outrage of some members nor appreciating it, but most of the Indian American citizen community does not want to be in sync with the plight of Indians immigrating to US.There are various reasons. Most important one as I have seen, Many in the Indian American citizen / Indian Permanent Resident community run consulting companies and they would hate to see these guys slip away from their hands by getting GC's. Fcuk, its like the damn door closes right behind you. I am positive most of those shops will come down to earth if Indian citzens start getting their GC's. May be its time, the Indian American Citizens/ Indian PR's ask themselves, what they really want. It is a different thing that he is associated with USINPAC and we do not agree with their agenda, approach or the way they misrepresent themselves to be the representatives of Indo community in USA. We have about 2.5 million Indians in USA of which about more than half a million are stuck in this green card mess. Any organization that claims to be a representative of Indian community should have this Green Card reform as a very top priority in their agenda, but it was extremely disappointing for the people fighting for this cause when they approached some of these organizations who could provide just lip service and press releases from their chambers and project that they are on the top of the issue and working hard to get the work done. Buddy, your tone sounds hostile and as I said we're staying here by choice - but let me tell you this, after getting an MBA (with financial aid) from a decent school here, staying here for a decade, getting into upper management of a large company and having US born kids, I'm relocating to India after the summer. I've just secured admission for my first born from here and it went without a single glitch.
So, YES, I've tried it, I'm pretty darn willing to and I got a strong pair of balls!

There are way too many problems infront of Fed Chairman.
1) Asking people not to walk out of homes and pay up their loans
2) Making the wall street firms like Lehmen, bear sterns run their businesses as usual.
3) Contain the inflation so that long term interest rates are lowered.
4) Come out clean if the US policy is shifting towards Weak dollar or going back to string dollar policy. Either way US and world over have to face gyrations in near term.
There is blood on everybody's hands for the mess we are in.
1) Japan for too long provided the world with cheap loans (~1%).
This money not only found its way to corprate India but also into US
Housing markets.
2) Americans spent money much much more they earn or worthy off.
3) Globalization created another affect (Read Alan greenspan's 'economic conundrum' theory). Google it, you will find plenty of articles.
4) China for too long manipulated their currency and provided the world cheap goods.
5) Oil exporting countries didn't utilize the profits in developing their countries and economies. Instead they started buying aasets all over the world causing unsustainable price levels in asets.
6) Indian software industry far too long booked profits without developing/diversifying into enterprise strength products and remained fixated on their business models. Software sector is staring clueless and is unprepared for the fallout of outsourcing industry. Pink Slip culture is on the rise.
How do we come out of this financial mess in US?
There is no easy solution.
10,000 people buying homes will not help this economy. On contrary, 10,000 people not buying homes will help.
