I bought a house in the year 2006 (2 years back as Punjabi did)....there were reports, news items, articles everywhere talking about the real estate bubble with data available by cities/states. So saying something like "what is the fault of Punjabi" is not fair as we are all here because of our "extraordinarily high skills". And where did the $200 K number come from ? In the city where I live, the average house price was $220,000, I bought a house which was worth $185,000. I knew my limits.
First of all I am not affected by foreclosure and nor do I own a property.
Now let me say this: What is the fault of Punjabi if his house price went down by $200K? He has a load which is not only more than his house value, he is also paying an interest on that loan. It is true that he has got into hot water but how many years will it take to make $200 K? Most of us are not millionaires here. It is true that he will suffer for a few years but I dont see why giving up the house is not an option. Why would he continue to pay interest and principal when his house may not get to the same value in his lifetime? I think foreclosure is a small price to pay in that light.

I got fired last April. I had my I-140 approved. Employer HR told me will not withdraw I-140 but cannot give me employer letter. How should I proceed with filing I-485? Please help.

Ganguteli, why do you keep on questioning everybody's intentions all the time. the other day, I had posted about L1 exploiting the loop to file GC in EB1 and your answer was plainly stupid and irritating - "I would have done the same thing if I had a chance"....
There is nothing wrong in exposing any kind of visa fraud...I came here on F1 10 years back and still in line for GC after getting masters from a decent school and working with major employers. What is wrong in making sure that it is FIFO....

Its same CPO. I have read in the forms here that it could take up to 2-3 weeks since the date of approval to receive the cards in hand.

My new theory is the DOS was influenced by politicians who are attorneys (I beleive that there 50% of lawmakers) and it released a huge Visa Numbers. The politicians have strong connections to law firms. The USCIS doesn't want to do it, because it doesn't have 'resources', 'money', 'manpower. So, they are on a near strike mode, not attending routine works like sending receipts., etc in a timely fashion.

Why can't it the legal and illegal immigration be addressed and solved. In a democracy, things like this can be solved administratively, legislatively and judicially. Adminstratively, we we hit below the belt, in backlogs, in delays, in sudden rule changes (no concurrent filings of PD is not current). Legislatively, they are stalling and falling apart. What is left for the immigrants?

DOS and USCIS played a tactical move by making all the visa numbers current in anticipation of the CIR bill so that the legals wont complain to the senators about retrogression.
Once the CIR went down the drain, they are panicking about the outcome of their tactical error and trying to undo that move.
Again, just my theory...:confused:

You are on the right track....Again no need to thank me....the help in the forum is mutual...I had gained strength from it and I'll reciprocate in every possible way...I am not one to vanish from the forum once I am done and see you guys waiting......well experience with USCIS is like a psychological trauma...it stays long and being a scorpio I can't forget things at all especially injustices....So I'll be there along the way for all you guys....and help you in whatever way I can......
That being said every case is different and gloom and doom scenario should not take over your spirits....I am a cynic by birth and see the glass always half empty but once thing that is different for me is that I never give up......and neither should any of you guys however bad the situation is....be a cynic be a pessimist be a paranoid if you can't help but BE PERSISTENT and UNRELENTING...

some of the provisions in Hagel (S. 1916, 1917, 1918, & 1919) Specter (unnumbered draft) bills have provisions for removal of numerical limits on adjust of status for people who have an advanced degree from US.
But is there any provision in any of the immigration bills which allows for "Ability to file for I485 even with visa number unavailability." like the one that was in s 1932. This would be easy to pass as Green card numbers would stay the SAME and no major modification is done to the existing law

In I-485, when we enter I-94 information, I am not sure which date to use in the valid field.
The date on my white EAD card expired already. I have a new I-797 which is valid until 2010. My guess is I should enter this date. Can any one please confirm?

You got it right.
They have thier own of operation. My CPO status was registered on Aug 5th. I got CPO email the next day. Then on August 12 it went back to post decision activity. I got the approval or welcome mail (snail) on August 12th itself. After that there is not change or update. All we can do is to sit back and wait for little bit more.
this saturday I got the welcome snail mail. but no CPO mail. The status online has been 'Decision' all the time with no change.

I agree we should focus on the task. There are lot of people trying to mislead and take the discussion off track. I will draft my own letter and send it this weekend. Its better if everyone writes there own letter. EB3 guys wake up and do something.
