Got another one in my Inbox...
A Global Investment Bank located in New York, NY has an immediate Full time opportunity for an experienced C++ Developer
Must have a Master Degree in IT and no more than 6 years of professional experience!
Position
We are looking to recruit a mid-level developer for the Puma pricing system. The candidate must be a very strong C++ developer. Ideally the candidate will have experience of distributed server-side systems. Candidates should have good numerical skills and an interest in financial analytics.
We are looking to recruit a permanent member of staff.
Description of the project and team
Puma is a server-based pricing system for flow interest rate products. It runs as a distributed set of components over a number of servers in order to price these products as fast as possible. It has a front-end used by traders to view prices, control quotes and send orders to the markets.
The code is currently written in C++ including the front-end which uses MFC. We will be migrating parts of the system including the front-end to C# over the coming year.
The use of the system is growing rapidly across product types and geographical locations. Puma currently prices EUR, GBP and USD products, with recent developments for pricing credit instruments and CDS, mortgage products and TIPS.
The Puma team has 6 developers in London, with an additional team working on Credit development, and two based in New York. We are looking to recruit another developer for the New York team. As it is a small team, the role will encompass all aspects of Puma development. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the project, and working in a small team makes the work of all team members highly visible. Candidates must be happy with the higher degree of responsibility that working in a small team brings. The role involves a certain amount of the support of the system. Candidates must be comfortable in a front-office environment, dealing with traders.
The key skill needed is very solid C++. This must include being familiar and comfortable with creating and using templates. Highly desirable skills include experience of developing distributed server-side systems.
Knowledge of financial analytics, particularly for bonds and swaps would be highly desirable but is not necessary. Experience with Excel would also be desirable.
The ideal candidate will have excellent personal and communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure, and both alone and with other developers.
Skills
`Must have` skills are:
- Excellent C++ programmer, including creation of templates
Highly desirable skills include:
-- C#
- Strong analytic skills and ability to prototype in Excel
Desirable skills include:
- Knowledge of financial products and pricing: particularly bonds and swaps.
- Familiarity with electronic markets
- Experience of distributed server-side systems
- Experience of real-time systems
- SQL
If you are qualified, available, interested, planning to make a change, or know of a friend who might have the required qualifications and interest, please send me an e-mail and please include a daytime phone number so I can reach you. In considering candidates, time is of the essence, so please respond ASAP. Thank you.

Also, consulate-provided certificates cannot be accepted as primary evidence. They can be used as secondary evidence along with school certificates, etc. Primary evidence is either copy of original birth certificate or affidavits or a combination of both.

I know of a colleague who lost her father but could not go to perform the last rites because she did not have the H1 stamped and the earliest appointment that any consulate in India was giving her was 4 months away.
She should have tried through the emergency quota/appoinment to get her stamping.. Death in immediate family is a accepted for this and I know a colleague you had to go for India for the very same reason, death in the family and returned back after getting his stamping. Got his appointment through EQ.
The article posted is touching, but out lives are not that bad .. We are far more better and we do have a good life.

Thank you very much for valuable answer. I appreciate LazyCIS, pmb76 and sam. Then I will wait till 180 days to go.
Just to clarify, Do I need to look / take jobs only permanent after 180 days?
Thank you,
Mani
As other members have advised, until 180 days+, maintain good relationship with your current employer as if you are going to be with them for ever (don't even give an inkling that you might be planning to leave). After 180 days you may leave, but you will have to find a new employer who is willing to hire you on permanent basis upon getting you GC for same/similar job as in the LC. What you do until your GC is approved (contract job with this employer or something else) is a different matter. Those employments can be on EAD, H1, temp/permanent, etc.

This thread is started to just gather the list of people who have approved Labor as on 31st Jul,2007 and could not file I-485 for various reasons like out of country,Not married, Employer did not file or Lawyer delayed etc.
You have been taken for a ride by employer, attorney and youself. It will be ages to reach your PD. Help IV in anyway you can to help you. Checkout the current omnibus funding drive - http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15905

Try this company for a mortgage. When I bought my house in 2006, I used them. They had the best rates, closing costs are relatively cheaper too. They are a small company, but are very customer friendly. Once they loan you the money, eventually, they will sell that mortgage to one of the big banks -- Countrywide, Citi etc. At that point, you'll need to start dealing with the new company.

Somewhere in these forums I read somebodys suggestion to rename the organization to legal-immigrants-first, or a similar sounding name. It may sound wholly redundant exercise to many of us, who are living the retrogression problem everyday, but it will make real difference in achieving our goals. We must first clearly identify and register ourselves in the eyes of leader of this country, before letting them know of our problems.
I second that wholeheartedly! Making them aware that we are not just about immigration, we are about LEGAL IMMIGRATION should be highlighted.

I was exactly in the similar situation. My wife entered on H4, started work on EAD. Now we are traveling to India, both have AP as well as H visa (H1 for myself, H4 for wife). I talked to our corporate lawyers pretty much the exact same questions you are asking. Here is the response (that I have in writing from the lawyers):
1. H4 status is invalidated the first day you report for work on EAD. While you are working, your status is AOS in the US. There is no consequence of this change (ie you do not have to report anything to the USCIS).
2. When you reenter the US, you can use H4 for reentry. (Yes, even if you are still employed the employer with an EAD and went to India only for "vacation"). This is because at the point of entry, the definition for "working on EAD" is actually reporting to work. As long as the H1 is valid, you can enter on H4. Your status at the point of entry is H4 admission. However, if you report to work the next day, your H4 status again is invalidated and you are back on AOS.
This is a pretty confusing scenario for many and multiple lawyers that I consulted have agreed with the above legal advise.
So, even though we have AP, we would be using our H visas to enter.
Send me a PM if you have further questions.
Hi chaanakya,
Thanks a lot for your replies. I had a few more questions -
1. Did your wife fill a new I9 form with the same employer when she was back again (on H4). The reason I am asking is that when you enter again you get a new I94 and that needs to be reported on the I9.
2. If the primary applicants 485 gets denied, then the dependent who is using EAD becomes out of status. At this point what to do for the dependent. Does he/she need to go out of the country and return back with a new H4, or can we somehow get back to H4 status from the US itself (note that the primary applicant is still in H1 status)

hopeful gc for this insight.
we have been through this numerous times now on threads that can no longer be counted. may i request you not to create new threads for discussions that are already taking place in every conceivable corner of this forum?
i hope to see you in DC, your enthusiasm would be well directed in iv's efforts to end retrogression once and for all. just consider it...never having to worry about receipts again :-)
sounds good? let's do DC on 9/18!

my employment is terminated a month ago. I still need to file h1 transfer to the GC sponser. I am single
I am told that H1 can be transferred only with in 10 days-20 days or so. which means that it is already a month. so in case if I dont get the h1 or if I have an issue in the H1 transfer, is that the end of my being H1.
If I were to be on H1 again is it going to come under the cap along with those new H1 filers? I still have one and half years to complete 6 years.
I have a fall back to EAD though based an approved 140 and 180 days past 485.
But how do I get the spouse then???
This is free country dude, you are free to live single or get married 10 times :D
your H1 is out of status.
you can find another employer, port your PD to them. While you work for them on EAD, you can file 485 for your wife when ur dates become current again. Hope this clarifies things.

I am sure we'll all hear from IV core team when it's time to start our phone and fax campaign in support of this or any other beneficial EB provisions to be included in the supplemental bill, if it ever happens of course.
I believe this is where IV stands in terms of strategy:
For minor/intermediate relief: Supplemental bills.
For major relief: SKILL Bill
For everything else: There is CIR :D

I guess when it comes to GC processing, NOTHING is really "wrong" is it? If you get a chance to work around and beat the long lines, I guess "It's all good". Some people are lucky that they get a chance to get Labor Sub, some ppl marry the GC and some ppl like the rest of us wait in line like "honest citizens".
The REAL question is, just how many of us would have refused a good labour sub, given the present conditions, solely on the basis that "it is unfair to others"? I know i would have taken it. Reason? It's LEGAL (or used to be). Our "misfortune" (if i can use that word), is that we did not get a similar chance.
For those wondering, what I am babbling about: "Let's not look down on this guy who got his GC approved by Labour Sub, or even continuously point out that he did."
Well said, No one here is going to let go an opporturnity here, if one gets one. In my case, I did NOT go in search of one, and I did not get one. So waiting in line for years. that said, If I had got an option, I would have taken advantage of it. This guy does deserves his GC. Anyway, he/she has been here since 1997 and it is a long time too.

My wife and daughter planning to go to India next month. They do not have H4 stamping but H4 validity is there up to next year. Plan is to come back after receiving AP. I am thinking that once their AP is approved I will send their AP to India, and they will come back using that AP. Experts, do you see any problem in this. Please share your thoughts.

People do not buy house to sell it. They buy it so that they can live for a long time. And when you do not know how long you are going to stay in this country(because of immigration issues) then why would they buy. There is something called closing cost, who will pay them if you have to sell?
