You can enquire with the Canadian authorities if they will collect it and pass it on the US post. If not you can take a U turn once you enter Canada and go back to US to give them the I-94 and take a U turn again to re-enter Canada.

Mumbai consulate.
They asked for zero documents.
I had taken a ton of documents
Salary slips
Tax returns
I129 petition copy
H1 approval
Name it I had it
But he asked me nothing
And did you also hand submitted $19 demand draft for the difference in new and old fee (assuming you filed $131 visa fee before June 4th)?
If yes, then were there any concerns regarding that? Please share.

If you guys don't mind I am opening this thread.
I am just trying to find out the average Lawyer Fee and Cost of GC (including Labor, I-140, 485, AP, EAD etc)
So far I have paid 8K to Lawyer and USCIS.

Yes its good USCIS have revenue to hire more people to process our applications. Well said.
It makes no difference whether they allow concurrent filing of 140/485 or not IF YOUR EMPLOYER IS WILLING to pay extra premium processing for 140. IF not , it makes minimal difference (2-3 months delay). Earlier this year, people were getting 140 approved on 6-8 weeks average without premium fee.
If your date is not current:
This rule makes 0 difference. File 140 and wait for approval while your date moves forward. Once its current, file 485.
If your date is current: File 140, regular processing 2-3 months and then file 485. If you can get premium processing done then it would be 15 days and then file 485. Either ways, you are delay in filing 485 by 2-3 months. In the grand scheme of things, its negligible. It would take even 2 months for your lawyer to get the paperwork straight for filing 485.
So please relax, this new rule that does not allow concurrent filing of 485 and 140 is not earth-shattering. Its a revenue generation move. And its good as long as revenue stays in USCIS as they do need revenue to hire more people to process files faster, which is in our own benefit. The only problem we have is the rise in fees generates revenue which often times does not stay with USCIS and goes away to other agencies of DHS(I think, this was mentioned in CIS Ombudsman report, if I am not wrong).

Do you have your I-140 approved and if yes, have you passed 180 days since you filed your I-485? If answer to both the response is yes, then nothing to worry about as you can simply work on EAD.
If you are still considering transfering H1-B, start looking for a company immediately. Small India companies who do H1 transfer can be little helpful in your scenario but watch out for crooks.
Yes. my I-140 is Approved and 180 days has passed. How much time will i have to transfer H1B without loosing H1B status? Thanks for your response.

Wish we would not getinto United States Civics discussions and concentrate on Increasing memberships and contributing.
Dont forget the goal....there are a lot of hurdles ahead as pointed out by Sen Durbin and elk already
To have a meaningful discussion / resolution to our problems we should be aware of the process.
We SHOULD have discussions on United States civics. If we are trying to become permanent residents of this country, we need to learn about the political process.

I now applied for EAD for my wife (not because she is going to work, just go get SSN). I do plan to get SSN for her and then file amended 2008 return. I wonder if I will get stimulas package then (the one which was given in 2008)?
I amended my tax for 2007 (filed in early 2008), intially filed with my spouse's ITIN, to change my spouse's ITIN with new SSN. IRS did not send any check. They simply replied that people without ITIN are not eligbile, which I knew, and which was the reason of my amended tax filing. Looks like simply changing ITIN to SSN is not treated as a tax amendment.
If changed situation (new SSN, children etc.) allow the check, this year's tax should take care of it as per instructions on IRS website.

But even with primitive PD's if visa nos are not available, things will still be the same. What say abt 6 yr old pd's in EB2...namecheck removal doesn't help!!!
But atleast with PD of March 2001, I have some hope, esp mine is in NC presently.

Hi All,
Its seems that my approved EAD card lost from mailbox (seems like post man delivered it in diff mail box instead of mine).. Its been more than 15 days of approval but no card in the mail.
I contact customer service and they said wait for 30 days otherwise file new one. I am not sure what are the option I have if I wont receive my card on time? My existing EAD is expiring within next 25 days. Is there any way that I can get my card back or USCIS issue new card without filling new one?
Thanks in advance
Onemorecame
Where was it filed ? TSC/NSC ?
How do you know whether it was delivered in a different mail box ?
I had a similar issue with my E-filed AP with TSC. They said they had sent it. But in fact they never sent it. Please read my experience here.

Unless you can play some smart games using an attorney, you cannot use an EAD to change job classifications as long as you are the primary applicant.
Wrong, you can use EAD for any job but when it comes to GC interview, you need to show that you have a job waiting based on LC.

I dont think you need to be worried. my friend( Came to US in 2003 after working in offshore with the same company for 2 years, but his company filed his GC only in 2006) got this interview in March 2008, they reviewed all his papers(W2's, Birth Certificate, all Employment letters) and said that its ready to go when PD becomes current. His PD is 2006 March ( Perm),EB3, I 140 Approved , and now he is waiting for his dates to become current to get the GC. His case is pre-adjudicated and is ready to be released as per USCIS. His attorney didnt go for the Interview.
One of friend attend the interview in Feb. 2008 his PD is Dec2006 EB2,they asked him his birth certificates,W2,recent pay slips proof for his current employment, after the interview they told him that your case has been approved but you need to wait until your PD gets current.

Your responsiblity with time sheet ends once it has been approved by your manager. The payment rules between Client -> Primary Vendor -> Your Consulting firm is not your busiess. Tell him straight that Once you fax an approved time sheet you should get that money irrespective of whether they got the money or not.
Also define the reasonable period . I think 2 weeks is fine any thing more is not acceptable.
