I do urge people who have not made any contributions to act now!
If we don't contribute at this time, IV may have great difficulty in operating and may even be closed one day. At that time, no one organization would stand up to speak for us!
I have a PD of August 2005. Luckily, I have filed my 140/485 in Sept. 2005. I do believe that, in this forum, I am among the luckiest ones who have more freedom to change jobs and travel outside US. any experience from Indain Embassy at SFO ?
Got new passport on 3rd day for whole family. In India passport was done in Barielly. Gave application Mon morning in person and collected Wed evening in person.
I have used couple of other services (e.g. certificates, power of attorney, etc) of Indian Embassy at SFO and every time they have been best for me. Although some of people I met have different experience.

On my wife's labor certificate, it is said her position requires a minimum of master degree. But the alternate is bachelor degree plus 2 years' experience. The lawyer has filed I-140 under EB2.
We are worried that this position does not qualify EB2 because we read on the internet that EB2 requires master degree or bachelor plus at least 5 years' progressive experience. We called the lawyer and said we heard from a friend such a case had been denied. She was very busy and just said there was no problem to apply for Eb2, and if we doubt it, we can hire our friend as a lawyer. We are so pissed off.
Can someone help me clarify if this position is qualified for EB2? do we need to change it to Eb3?

For filing I 485 I know you need to submit birth certificate and marriage certificate. Do both of these have to be originals or copies are fine ?

copies are fine; in fact, you must NEVER send originals. They will not return them. you should keep originals with yourself in case they ask for them during interview (if interview is needed).

Those of us who are lucky to have high paying jobs and good employers can very look down on the folks that don't have healthcare. However, health care is now a human right declared by United Nations in Dec 1948. In the US, the largest developed nation, there are millions who cannot get healthcare (only emergency care). Even if this healthcare doesn't reduce it drastically in the short term, it will stem the rising costs eventually. That is the long term projection at least. Think about how much cheaper prescription drugs are in Canada when compared to the US.
I think that "what we are debating here is "what is better for the US". You and I can contribute to the SS and Medicare system that we are not allowed to draw from until we have greencards or become naturalized citizens. The illegals you mention are in the same boat. The point that I am making is that the anti-immigration lobby sees all immigrants in a single light. If we try to divide ourselves away from the low-skilled we are not going to get anywhere. Immigration in general touches a number issues - civil and human rights, economics, etc.. By trying to distance ourselves from any of these issues, we are in fact make it more difficult for ourselves. For the record, I do want a green card, I want a fair system. I don't believe in treating one person different from another because of their background or the kind of work they perform. (that's just to give some perspective regarding my views on the issue). I am sure it was exciting news for us to hear. However, it appears the Immigration provision were removed before passing the bill. This is another proof that the IV core are right on track. It appears like they have good information and that immigration-related bills and changes will be passed in immigration bill itself and not attached to other bills. I think the congress will address the all the immigrant issues in a new CIR or some new immigration bill.

I am manily concerned as USICS rejected the 485 petitions for "Other Worker s" last june ,they can also do the same now if they received huge number of applications ( 40K) in the first few days .

Can you please let me know , CURRENTLY how long labor thru perm is taking to get approved.
Earlier it used to get approved in few days.
I am looking at how much time it is taking currently to get approved.
