Durbin/Grassley bill will check them also. But it will impact some good people also. We are opposing that because many of IV members may be impacted by that. Also most IV members feel that bill is conspiracy to eliminate h1b program. There is no easy solution for these issues. If they relax the rules fraud will increase and if they tighten it then some good persons also impacted. So the fight will go on forever. But economy will decide future of H1b and immigration. You cannot prevent restrictions if employment growth does not return to normal levels. But restrictions will not block H1b program but will bring best people in the world.

If this happened to our prime minister Manmohan singh, I belive he would have just laughed. He would not have said "I am MM singh". The bottom line is there are certain rules and regulations and everybody (including SRK) is subject to them. Next time SRK travels he should consider carrying all the CDs of his movies with him to prove his "greatness".

one exception is if your spouse is a Canadian citizen or if you are working for a Canadian subsidiary (I am not sure if it has to be a governmental ).
1) If "canadian Business" hires you "In Canada" and send you to USA for
handling its "International Business" then also your stay in USA would be
considered as your "Physical stay" in Canada.
2) If you become Canadian Government Employee and it sends you to USA for
its business then also you will not be considered "Physically Out" of the
Canada.
3) If you go to USA with your earning spouse employed by "Canadian

I pity people who have coming to USA is foremost objective. In my case, i came to USA 7 years ago. Atleast i earned few bucks. But people who are dreaming about USA and taking education loans with the intention to payoff once they land in USA. It also includes people coming here on F1 with intention to work here. I feel really sorry!!!

It makes no sense any more. 10-15 years ago it made sense. I have have been telling people to look outside US for MBA (practiced it myself for my MBA though I did my MS in US)

Dear Friends, I had it... I am moving to Canada in the next 2 months to work for guess who? Microsoft. Came to USA in 1997 for my masters, worked at Legato, Documentum and Opentext. Had to restart my GC twrice, once as the company laid me off and next for career progression. GC is still years years away. Interviewed with MSFT last month and got an offer to work in their Enterprise Collaboration team. MSFT looked at the visa mess I was in and offered me to work in Vancouver. I get my Canadian GC in 6 months and my wife can work from day one. I am abandoning my US dream for good;guess I would be satisfied with touching my 4 year old son's American passport.

Any for those whiners belonging to IEEE and its propoganda machine, I would like to mention that I drew salries which were above way above the norm. I am sure I would be drawing more than 2 of his programmers combined. Ron- ask your folks to learn to compete and update their skills. They probably studied studied 'history of mathematics' as a math subject in high school instead of calculus. They were happy that they had the coolest Nintendo games while many like me were burning the midnight old figuring out data structures at Berkeley.

Berney, fix the broken education system for job protection rather than building fences to prevent legal workers to come to this gifted country. More companies will leave for nearshore if the mess continues. Fix the system by closing the H1B loopholes that a small percentage of companies are exploiting. Don't bad mouth the H1B system which has given you so much talent that you could have never groomed, the talented individuals who have contributed to the society, social security system and what not. Patch the holes in the fence, do not erect a higher fence for which people need to pay $ 5000 to cross. I dont think that the per-country cap on immigration is "Unconstitutional." It may not seem fair to those affected but it does not violate any article of the US consititution. The country has a right to regulate its borders; that is its right. We should try to argue that the policy is counter-productive and harmful - not that it is illegal.

My son recently finished his high school and wanted to do Dental degree in India. My current situation is I have applied for adjustment of status in July 2007. Me and my family got the EAD and AP. My priority date is Eb3-November 2005. WIth this mess, I am not sure when I will get my green card.
My question is:
Can I send my son to India for his studies when the adjustment of status is pending. Will it be considered as abondaned if he is out of US when the adjustment of status is in progress?.
Is there any specific forms for this type of situation so that he can go for studies in India and continue the adjustment of status.
Thanks in Advance and your answer will be helpful for our quick decision for this year courses.

Every country should protect it's interests and we should be proud that a terrorist has the gumption to ask for Mutton Biriyani in an Indian prison. Why should he not? He is a criminal and then he has his own desires. Cutting to the gist, he is a 20 year old misguided young man, poverty led him to take up arms and am sure he did not realize what he was up to when he did what he did. He is a freak who doesn't know the distinction between right and wrong. Why morph him into a demon? Don't you think there are other rapists and murderers making other unimaginable demands in prisons?

I guess many have mentioned this before.
Diversity should not be based on "country" as well. For example I can easily say that "India" has to be considered as "20 different countries", if it divided based on diversity. And probably many of the europian countries combined should be "1 country".
Means if the diversity quota is 100 per year, to call for proper diversity.....

But the system is totally messed up and we cant have an overnight change .Even if they initiate something now by the time it gets actually implemented it shuld be more than 1 year.If nothing works out within atleast 1.5 years to 2 years this should be definitely considered.

Can I ask a question - tangential, maybe, but not by much. Why do Tamils have such a problem assimilating? Why don't they learn the local language and respect the local culture when they immigrate? Their motto seems to be "In Rome, be a Raman".
And the opposite is true when people speaking other languages settle in Tamil majority areas - they are, dare I say, forced to integrate, because that is the only way one can manage to live on a day-to-day basis. Would Tamils ever allow a non-Tamil minority to gain even a tiny foothold in their areas where the Tamil writ would not run? I doubt it.
Note that I am a firm believer of learning and respecting the local culture and integration. One does have a 'right' to propagate one's own language and culture, but they lose that right substantially when they emigrate to an alien land - whether it is within the same country or not.
To extend the logic, when we (mostly people of Indian origin in this group, I would assume) immigrate to the US, while we may try to conserve our heritage in private, we cannot impose it on the locals. That is when you end up creating ill-will against immigrants among the native population. America has been a great melting-pot, and has had great success assimilating great waves of immigrants from various countries including Italy, Ireland, Scandinavia, Germany etc, and the reason it succeeded was that in a couple of generations, there was total integration into the American culture. We owe it to our adopted country to do the same.
