My Lawyer does whatever my employer tells him. They never give any receipt notice or approval notice to employees.
They did not even let me file my EAD and AP along with I-485.
I can file EAD/AP myself but I'm worried they might not give me the receipt notice of my I-485 filed in july, in a last ditch effort to prevent me from fleeing(I don't yet have any intention btw) or atleast make it difficult for me.
I'm sure there would be many in this situation.
Any thoughts what can be done?

Here is another link posted below, published just 2 days back.

In the absence of governing regulations, there is a lot of grey area and wide divergence of practice for how employers and employees handle AOS portability situations. However, USCIS expects to publish regulations governing AC-21 that purport to address these issues in the near future.
Can IV CORE address this issue ASAP with CIS??? I know speaking (or rather typing) is simple than doing it, but I am sure there must be some efforts going on in background.

"RED or GREEN" dots don't bother me, so save yourself some and instead divert the energy towards sending letters.
Thank you for your support.

This is a good suggestion. I am in the same boat and will do this by weekend for sure.
Meanwhile, if anyone has suggestions or want to share experience with particular attorney, please help. I need to contact a good attorney by tomorrow. If anyone can share the experience, deeply appreciate your help. Thanks

Thanks KevinKris for sharing the info.
Your documents represents the I-140 info.
I was trying to check what is the priority date attached to I485 application. Seems there is no such info. attached to pending I-485 application.
Also, just now I checked my 485 receipt. The PD column in my I-484 receipt is blank. Is this common for every one? Just curious?
Yes, That is very common. You just need to verify the priority date is correct in your 140 approval notice.

Thank you so much for your responses! I did not mean to lie to the consulate when I answered "no" on the form the previous time. I think the thing that we've actually came back in time proves it. The new DS-160 form doesn't have this questions because I've heard that many people were confused by it. The consulate officer did not ask us if we were planning to immigrate to the US. I know of quite a few people who were issued a non-immigrant visa while replying "yes" to that question. Does it mean the law was broken on that case?
Does it matter if the "I-130" was not approved yet? Does it count "immigration intent" from the date they've received documents from my brother? Please comment. Thank you.

Anything less than 800,000 is good... even a few hundred thousand less :) There's still a lot of work and patience required but a good news is a good news nevertheless.
any news in Good News. Now with 480,000 less applications it even a better NEWS. But I aggree our efforts needs to continue towards reform. I believe even if they only change law regarding Counting Family members in Visa numbers. That will work very well for us.

Accepting I-485 without PD current also needs legislation...if you don't know about that already !
Good news could only be this. Accept I-485 and issue EADs. Country limit cannot be removed that quickly. I think a legislation needs to be passed to be in effect. What say??

Due to the economic downturn there aren't many companies sponsoring GCs for employees. I doubt it would be more than 20 to 30k per year from now. This leaves 100-110k visas available every year for retrogressed countries like india and china
if there 300-400k pending GC applications in all categories then shouldn't all of us get our GC in next 3-4 years?
There is no way to clean every thing with in 3 to 4 years, Why because like EB3 china and India had country limit per year.

If Applicants receive a 221(g) notice with a questionnaire asking about job experience/edcuation backgrond, that is usually "additional administrative processing" associated with TAL (Technology alert check). thsi takes around 30-45 days in most cases. Other 221(g) reasons could be just for employer/document verification (which is what it seems in your case).
Timelines are varied but in most cases peopel get approval in a month or so. But the wait is nerve-wracking. Just stay positive and be aware that these checks are happening frequently nowadays.
Once you get your visa and travel back, please join in IV's push to get I485 (3rd stage of green card) filing without current PD. spread the message among your friends/colleagues.
these kind of issues while visa stamping and also while h1b extensions are the main reason why our situation is so fragile when on H1B. all the more reason to get any admin fixes that will help people stuck without being able to file I485.
